It seems appropriate to write about British Petroleum, however, I don’t think I can add anything original or creative.
Clearly, it’s a disaster of the first magnitude, hell, it’s now being called the greatest environment catastrophe in history.
While certain Congress will go through its usual histrionics over the event and the Administration will continue to do, and I believe this, everything in its power to alleviate the disaster, it remains uncertain to me whether Washington will ramp up its controls and regulations over “Big Oil,” or even in some way nationalize it.
I heard the same cacaphonous railing back in the days of the Exxon Valdez. It seems nothing’s changed. Or maybe that should be “Nothing’s changed yet.”
I just don’t know. I, as well as most according to the polls, have virtually no confidence in Washington.
This isn’t an especially eloquent post, however, clear eloquence can be found in Frank Rich’s column this morning, “Obama’s Katrina? Maybe Worse,” as well as Maureen Dowd’s, “Once More, With Feeling.”
