To say it was sad watching the courtege cross Memorial Bridge to Arlington is dreadfully obvious and trite. A great man; a great Senator gone. Watching CNN or MSNBC, however, was also so: While some commentators added value and knowledge, others were generally awful and I muted the set to wonder what budding great politician would rise to serve the nation. Given my age, I wondered if I would live to see such leadership or truly classic politics.
There was more for Senator Kennedy to do; much left undone. I see no healthcare coming down the road and I see no mentor for the President. It is a very sad day; and the start, I lament, of many more.
