Ennui

is what I’m feeling now, have felt generally for the last decade and I fear, am destined to feel in the future. There nothing that seems especially “right” with the world. We’ve little for which to thank our leaders these days, as they mire us deeper into the intricacies of getting re-elected, as opposed to unwinding our national dilemma(s).

A story today in The New York Times, A List Stars Flailing At The Box Office,” asserts that “A-list movie stars have long been measured by their ability to fill theaters on opening weekend. But never have so many failed to deliver, resulting in some rare soul-searching by motion picture studios about why the old formula isn’t working — and a great deal of anxiety among stars (and agents) about the potential vaporization of their $20 million paychecks.” Well, of course, what do these bozos in “Hollywood” expect? First, $20 million salaries for a few months work? Studio chiefs who are rewarded for bad judgement? And movies that are at least bordering on “perfectly dreadful,” and cost up to $15 to see.

Americans losing confidence in Obama,” an AP headline blares. After all, he’s only been in office a little more than six months. On the other hand, the right wing grabs the headlines with absurd comments by members of the world’s most exclusive club.

There’s no value left in most of our homes any longer; folks continue to worry about losing their jobs daily, if not lose them; the homeless are increasing and taxes are, no doubt, going up.

While the sun’s, indeed, shining where I live, there’s such a pall over the world and no end in sight.
