Healthcare’ s all but dead because my party lacks the fortitude to effect it. Harry Reid’s more than a bit of a putz and has literally no leadership skills. The White House doesn’t seem remarkably disturbed at so-called “patriots” carrying weapons openly at Presidential functions (perhaps that statement should have come first). That just scares the hell out of me on any number of levels. The most obvious, of course, is the safety of our President. On another level, to which I’ve alluded in the past, where the hell can one feel safe from these gun toters.
To me, the fact that they carry these weapons to Presidential events is clear evidence that they lack judgement. And if they lack that kind of judgement, are they carrying these weapons everywhere: the movie theatres, Baskin Robbins, wherever. I’ve lived 66 years and with the exception of war zones, of which I’ve seen a couple, I’ve never seen anyone carrying a gun, other than a police officer, soldier or the like; not in New York City, Chicago, Washington, LA.
If these gun nuts start “protecting” themselves from perceived threats, we’re going to very much need national healthcare. And back to that, why wouldn’t we, as a nation, want everyone covered by some sort of health benefits. I’m not a wealthy fellow; don’t make a lot of money, but I’m willing to kick in my share. And, by the way, the government’s doing just fine running my benefits, Medicare, despite its financial problems. I sure as hell don’t want some CEO running them, given their track record over the past couple of decades.
