Disclaimer: I am an old left-wing liberal Democrat.
Yes, it’s true that Alaska has apparently (after all, it is Alaska and who the hell knows for sure) taken the first steps in the matter. The report found the firing was lawful, however. And, according to Associated Press, “Under Alaska law, it is up to the state’s Personnel Board — which is conducting its own investigation into the matter — to decide whether Palin violated state law and, if so, must refer it to the Senate president for disciplinary action.”
And, yes, all of this mitigates toward John McCain’s rather dreary judgement, but didn’t the very pick of Palin categorically accomplish this.
There are many issues out there and we all know them, feel them; the economy prime among them. But I have yet to hear either candidate tell me specifically what he’s going to do for us, in very specific terms. It is distressing to see my party so unprepared and perhaps that in itself is the most cogent comment that can be made.
