Bailout?

Washington Mutual today became the largest bank failure in history. I’m an old left wing Democrat from the lower West Side of New York City and I’ve got no idea how this $700 billion’s going to help, especially in light of the fact that the number seems arbitrary to the point of being capricious; there is no oversight and the “selling” of it sounds remarkably like the Cowboy’s selling of the Iraq war.
